How to Reserve a Puppy
1. Complete Our Puppy Application & give us a call
If you are interested in our Collie breeding program, please first of all complete our puppy application to tell us about yourself, your expirience with the breed, and about your interest in a Collie. Once we review & accept your application, we will reply by email with more information about current availability, answers to your questions, etc. We'd also like to have a phone conversation with you too! Please call us at 570-293-4108. If we can't answer, just send us a text so we can set up a later time to chat.
2. Submit a Deposit to get on our 'Waiting List'.
If your application has been accepted and you've decided that we're the breeder of your next Rough or Smooth Collie, please submit a $200 Non-Refundable Deposit to get on our waiting list. While this deposit is non-refundable, it can be transferred to any litter, at anytime, for any puppy. (Deposits are accepted thru Gooddog's Secure Payment Platform).
Once you have submitted the deposit, you will join our waiting list. People/Families on our waiting list receive priority puppy choosing in the order their deposit was received. When you join our wait-list, we will let you know what to expect in relation to where you are on our waiting list and when you'd likely be able to choose a puppy. If it's your turn to choose a puppy and you don't see one you're interested in, just let us know that you'd like to wait for the next litter.
3. Choosing Your Puppy
People/Families on our waiting list will get to choose their puppy in the order that we received their deposits. Once a litter has been born, you will be contacted about how many puppies will be available for you to choose from in this litter and we will schedule a tentative date for you to come to the farm and choose a puppy when they are around the age of 6-7 weeks and after their initial vet exam. While you are meeting the puppies, we will share our observations with you about the individual puppy personalities. However, we encourage you to come, play with the puppies, and make your own observations on how each pup responds to you as well. In our years of breeding, we've observed that some puppies behave differently around different people, that's why I do not make that final choice of which puppy you take home. I feel that both the buyer and the puppy are happiest when they get to make that final choice themselves. We also observe the puppy's reaction to you as well and we discuss what we're both seeing.
If you are not able to come to the farm to choose your puppy because of distance or schedule, you may choose your puppy virtually from photos and personality descriptions of available pups.
If you are choosing a puppy as a service prospect, we are happy to have your puppy trainer involved in your puppy choosing process, either in person or virtually.
4. Paperwork & Final Payment
In the days between choosing your puppy and taking the puppy home, you will have a couple things to do before pick-up:
- Complete our Sales Contract & Health Guarantee
- Complete the final payment before pick-up
- Prepare for your puppy by puppy-proofing your house and getting supplies ready!
- Call your vet to schedule your pup's first 'well-baby' visit. We ask that your pup see a vet within 10 days of purchase as your confirmation that you received a healthy, fit-for-sale puppy!
5. Preparing Your Puppy
In addition to paperwork and final payment details, you need to get your household ready for a puppy and gather in a few supplies. Please review our PUPPY TIPS below for more information on puppy-proofing your house and things to get ready for your pup!
6. Make Arrangements to Get Your Puppy Home
If you are unable to come to the farm to pick-up your puppy and take it home, we have multiple options for you to consider for puppy transport. Below is a link to more transport details. Here are some basic considerations:
- You will make the transport arrangements and pay the transport person directly for their service.
- Ground transport is not available to the west coast — transit time is too long for a small pup.
- Final payment for your puppy is REQUIRED before your puppy leaves our home with the transport person.
7. Puppy Pick-up Day!
Finally the big day arrives and it is time to make the trip to the farm for your puppy! Be sure to pack a bag of supplies for your trip home (See Puppy Tips for Puppy Pick-up Day). Also, write down your questions for us to go over while you are here!
We will have things to send home with you. These include:
- A small blanket that smells like mom & the siblings to comfort your pup during its first night in your home!
- A folder of your pup's health, vaccination, pedigree, and microchip information. (Please take this folder of records along to your first vet visit to transfer your puppy's records to your vet's files).
- A small (2 lb.) bag of NutriSource Large Breed Puppy Food.
- If you have a collar and leash along, we will help you get it properly fitted onto your pup! If you do not have a collar and leash along, we will provide one that we have on hand.
Our Puppies are eating NutriSource Large Breed Puppy Food. You can either use the food we give you to wean your pup onto a Large Breed Puppy Formula of your choosing, or else you can buy NutriSource Large Breed Puppy Food from us when you come for your pup. We have 40 Pound Bags available for $65 each.
